‘la Pique Grosse’ and ‘The Vitruvian Man’ : a view from ‘SouslePic’

‘la Pique Grosse’ (Mt Bugarach) & ‘The Vitruvian Man’ : a new view from ‘SouslePic’

If one accepts the suggestion of a recumbent Giant’s head lying atop ‘la Pique Grosse’, (see my first article Bugarach – a New ‘Mystery’ ? ) this implies that there should be a ‘body’ to go with it. But if this is the case, is there any local topographic ‘evidence’ for such a body?

“SouslePic’s” researches suggest that this may indeed be the case, and that the ‘body’ in question is directly related to that amazing 15th century anatomical work of Leonardo da Vinci – the ‘Vitruvian Man’. But how?

First, take a copy of the French IGN ‘Carte de Randonnée’ 2347OT: Quillan;

Next, make an appropriately matching-scale* translucent tracing - or better still, a transparent  photocopy - of Leonardo da Vinci’s vitruvianVitruvian Man - image from Wikipedia‘Vitruvian Man’ sketch.

(Check out ‘Vitruvian Man’ on eg Wikipedia... A photocopy with the square surrounding the figure reduced or enlarged so that it measures 80x80mm will provide the appropriate scale)

Given that our ‘Pique Grosse’ Giant’s head profile is oriented with his ‘forehead’/ ‘nose’/‘chin‘ on a NE >SW alignment, centre your Vitruvian Man overlay’s nose on the ‘tower’ (nose) of ‘La Pique Grosse’, and set the rest of the overlay aligned likewise, ‘head’ NE > ‘feet’ SW:

Interesting or what?................

The ‘raised’ left hand of the Vitruvian Man figure will rest on the.summit of the ‘Pec h de Bugarach’ to the SE;

His ‘vertical’ feet will rest on the “Gazeu et Bénazet” ruines some 2km to the SW;

His outstretched left foot will ‘balance’ near the SE end of the Gazeu et Bénazet ‘ridge’, at the ‘lieu dit ‘ “Parahou”;

His ‘Manly Parts’ will be centred on the “Roc de la Beillé” , near the D45 road;

The lower part of his Sternum - on the direct line between the ‘Tower’ and the Roc de la Beillé - will lie in the ‘cave’/giant cleft at the base of the SW facing falaises of La Pique Grosse.

And last but not least:.....

A line drawn between the tips of the Index Fingers of our Vitruvian Man’s horizontal outstretched arms , if extended to the NW, not only passes through Bugarach village, but also intersects with ....... Rennes le Chateau !

Strange coincidences ?

And is the scale location of our Vitruvian Man/Giant’s Navel - at approx. 675m. alt. on the SW flank of la Pique Grosse, roughly midway between the base of his ‘Sternum’ and his ‘Groin’ - in any way significant ?

* Taking our Giants ‘head’ (as per the earlier photographic ‘revelation’ here on CatharCountryInfo) as being some 250 metres long ‘on the ground’, and given da Vinci’s calculation of the height of the human head being 1/8 that of a man’s height, the ‘Vitruvian Man’ would be some 2,000m ‘tall’ here. I.E, the distance between the North end of the Pique Grosse massif (the top of our Giant’s ‘head’) and the Gazu et Bénazet ‘lieu’ (the location of his ‘central’ feet).
