HOW TO WRITE A FRENCH CHEQUE
We at ‘Help in France’ have in the past received some very strange French cheques from our British clients, some with no amount on them at all (which could be a worry !) and some written in the same way as a British cheque. Part of the problem is that it’s in French, which not all of us are capable of deciphering. Also, it isn’t that much like a British one. Therefore here, for the benefit of all but the chosen few, is a guide to writing out a French cheque.

You’ll need to fill in the amount twice : in figures in the white box on the right and in words on the first line, after “payez contre ce cheque” ………………………………….
You need to put the name of the person or company you want to pay on the line underneath, after “A”…………………………………………….
Location and date must be written under the white box on left, where you have put amount in figures :
- the place where the cheque is being written will be indicated after “A”………….
- the date after “Le”……………….
Signature : sign the cheque in the space under the location and date
