Warning Computer Scam:

If you receive a call from a person reporting to be a computer technician working for Microsoft, AVG, McAfee and they tell you that there is a problem with your computer and that you have a virus infection hang up and DO NOT proceed.

The Call is a hoax from a company probably in India that has got hold of list of English people in France, they will know your name, they tell you to do lots of things and to look at lots of different files on the computer in places you have never looked before this is to scare you into thinking there is a problem.

They then say they need to access the computer remotely to fix the problem, this is where the scam cuts in, they access the computer using remote control software via a web site address they give you, they then find or plant a virus on your computer and when its found they want credit card details before they will fix the problem.

They are not associated with Microsoft or any other legitimate company, they are looking to get access to computers and or credit card details. This scam happened in the UK earlier this year and they are now trying to catch people here.

Do not follow any of their instructions, just hang up the phone and if you are worried about your computers security call me I will advise you of what you need to check.

If you have already received one of these calls and followed the instructions then it is very important to report the incident to your credit card company and to run a full scan with Anti-Malware or Anti-Spyware on your computer.
